Photo travel - News - PSA International Conference of Photography - related tours and services

The countdown is on for the 2003 PSA International Conference of Photography in Houston, Texas and it will be another great one for members of the Photo Travel Division. The programs that are lined up under the Division sponsorship are varied and will prove to be of interest to many of our members. Included will be a program by Carol-Ann Rogus, APSA, about her recent travels to southeast Asia; Jerry Hixson, FPSA, will take you to western Africa; Michele Burgess, a professional travel photographer, will show us her best work that she has done in several countries; David and Carol Meisenheimer, APSAs, PPSAs, will show us great places to create images in the southwestern states; and Anthony and Lois Winston, APSAs, will show us the wild and wonderful regions of West Virginia. Paul, Hon. FPSA and Eunice Luebke will give us a taste of Africa that ranges from desert to plateau, from mountain to rainforests, showing just how diverse the African continent can be.

Be sure to take advantage of the tours that are being offered at the conference. The Monday tour is going to cover a lot of Galveston Island's offerings that will be sure to help you use up a lot of film to document the area. This tour covers the historical East End along with older architecture to modern buildings and the shrimp boats at the docks. The tour also covers the "pyramids" at Moody Gardens. That evening there is a tour of a private ranch with a special rodeo at which you can add to your collection of images of the Houston area. The Tuesday tour includes the Williams Waterfall, a walk along the world famous Kemah Boardwalk with many more photo opportunities, culminating with a visit to Space Center Houston.

Next month we hope to bring you the results of the spring competitions. Be sure to send me your news items for inclusion in this column about events that would be of interest to all of our division members. You can send by e-mail or by regular mail.
