Mary Ellen Brucker, FPSA, PTD chairman, submitted the following news:
The Photo Travel Division has a new Membership Records director. She is Linnet G. Dean, APSA, of Chesterfield, MO, a longtime PSA member and former Color Slide Division secretary. She holds several PSA awards from slide essay contests.
Linnet's appointment fills a vacancy created by the sudden death in April of Sidney B. Goldstein, FPSA, PPSA, one of PSA's most active and enthusiastic volunteers. Though a newcomer to PTD office, Sidney was a multi-star photo travel exhibitor who also was director of PTD Honors and Awards. His death leaves a gap in our division that will be difficult to fill and our sympathies go to his daughters, Suzan and Dale Goldstein, APSA's.
Sid's is not the only loss that PTD has suffered this year. In bringing our membership records up to date, we noticed in the Journal that several prominent photo travelers have recently passed from the scene.
They include Norman Buhn, FPSA, longtime exhibitor, judge and program presenter: Marcel Jansen, APSA, one of our leading Belgian exhibitors: Betty Jane Kranz-Sinclair, APSA, 4-star exhibitor and former division volunteer: Barbara Laatsch-Hupp, APSA, former Travel Aide whose comprehensive guides to the best photo spots in America helped hundreds of PSA'ers make "tripod holes" around the country in the last 30 years.
Also Bertha Koch, FPSA, an almost legendary photo traveler and, with her husband, the late Jerome Koch, a judge, lecturer and major backer" of the founding of the Photo Travel Division: James W. (Jim) Whitsell, APSA. a multi-star exhibitor: Stanley B. Watt, avid traveler, photographer and exhibitor; and Mabel Boulet, EPSA, a 52-year PSA member and one of our most successful exhibitors. We salute them all.
